$1 baby bag

I'm not sure how you feel about it, but I think spending $5 on a bag is silly. I'd much rather spend an extra $5 on a gift, than on a bag- but maybe that's just me?

Hobby Lobby sells their bags for a whopping $1 (go ahead, celebrate)!! They come in many colors... I usually start there, and then add something to the bag.

This is a bag that I made for my friend's baby, Annabelle:
I cut the shoes out using my Silhouette (baby_shoe_C00408_18816) , BUT you could easily cut these out with scissors and hole punch, too.

Here is the template:

I would use scalloped scissors, instead of making all those little cuts.

  1. How cute and thrifty!! Thanks! ;)Alyssa of Boston

  2. I feel exactly the same way about buying bags. I would rather give the person $5 than spend it on a silly bag. I love this idea of embellishing it yourself. As always, I love seeing your stuff over at Crazy Cute! :)

  3. I agree about bags! Looks like you've found the perfect solution. I may have to invest in one of those silhouettes. Thanks for the crafty idea. I am headed to hobby lobby for headband making supplies. Will pick up some of these bags- will come in handy! Thanks!! :-)

  4. Oh, so cute! I usually save $$ by buying some printed tissue paper with my blah bags. This is a great idea! I hope you can join in my giveaway going on now!

  5. Love this bag! super cute! Make sure you stop by and link up some projects! I've started my first ever craft link party!
